"Green to Clean" your Algae infested Pool
What can be done if I have a pool that is totaly green, and its too hot out to drain?
If your pool is Pebble Tec, it can be drained anytime, but if its plaster, you will need to chemically treat the pool and perform what is commonly refered to as a Green to Clean. As in the pictures below, the next best thing to draining, sanitizing and Acid Washing a pool to get it clear is to go Green to Clean with algaecides.
How long does a Green to Clean take?
Depending on the severity of the algae infestation, the temperature outside and the efficiency of the pool cleaning equipment, a Green to Clean can work very fast (12 hours as in the case below) or it can take several alagecide treatments over several days.
What effect does a DE filter or a Cartridge filter have on a Green to Clean?
If you have either of those types of filters, you will need to have your filter opened up and cleaned (Check out our web pages that deal specifically with those filters.) prior to the Green to Clean treatment and after the Green to Clean treatment.
Why clean DE filters and Cartridge filters before a Green to Clean algae treatment?
The reason to clean DE filters and Cartridge filters before and after a Green to Clean algae treatment is because as bad as the water in the pool is, the inside of the filter is actually worse. The inside of your filter will be laden with algae and it will not be able to filter the water and get it clear as efficiently as a clean filter will.
Why clean DE filters and Cartridge filters after a Green to Clean alagae treatment?
Because all the algae and nasty organisms that were in the pool ARE NOW IN THE FILTER and have to be removed.
What if I have a sand filter?
